More about the Artist.
Thomas Blackshear II was born in 1955 in Waco, Texas. The son of an Air Force Pilot, he spent most of his childhood moving base to different places. One thing however, was constant - his love for art. Even as a child, Thomas was inclined towards drawing illustrations and sculpting from modeling clay.
After graduating from high school, Thomas was awarded a scholarship to a fine arts school, the Institute of Art in Chicago. He went on to work for Hallmark Cards Company around 1977 as an apprentice to a well known illustrator.
Since then, there has been no looking back. He turned freelancer in 1982. Thomas has illustrated for stamps, posters, magazines, collector plates and greeting cards. His clients include well known brands and companies.
Thomas credits his success to his immense faith in God. His belief is evident in his wondrous paintings and meaningful interpretations.
Thomas Blackshear II says, "God opened all the doors. All I had to do was just walk through."
