Item Description... The second book in the series following on from the bestselling Rainforest AdventuresChildren are fascinated with the natural world around them and with facts and information about animals that they have never seen. However often good nature programmes on T.V. or articles in magazines centre on evolution and completely ignore the Creator. Each story has a Bible verse and lesson for the reader to take away. Written by someone who spent his life in the Rainforest this book has the added benefit of being written by someone who has been there lived there and experienced the culture not just someone who has read the encyclopaedias.
Community Description This book takes you into the life of C.S. Lewis, the child, the scholar, the husband, the writer and the believer in God. If you haven't read any of his books before this is an excellent beginning. Find out how Lewis struggled through school but eventually made it to be one of the best known Christian authors of this century. Discover the reason he preferred to be called Jack and how he would spend hours as a child writing stories of animals who came to life and spoke just like humans. Recommended for ages 9 to 14.Please Note, Community Descriptions and notes are submitted by our shoppers, and are not guaranteed for accuracy. |

Reviews - What do our customers think?
 | The Child behind the Man Jun 7, 2000 |
| Watching the film 'Shadowlands', or seeing the play of the same name, gives you the impression that Lewis was remote and awkward around people. Reading this fine youth biography shows you that underneath he had an innate sense of wonder that was stifled by his upbringing and work. It found an outlet in his books for children and camaraderie with the 'Inkspots'. This is a revealing biography because it is written for young people. A suitable vehicle for finding out about the author of the Narnia Chronicles! I found it much less precious than other books on Lewis - probably because this was written by a fellow native Northern Irishman, rather than a fan. It also wrecks several pompous academic careers by including a letter from Lewis to a young girl, explaining what each of the Narnia books is about. Moving, heartwarming and fun. | | | Write your own review about C.s. Lewis The Story Teller (Trailblazer)
