Reviews - What do our customers think?
 | Bad theology Nov 30, 1999 |
Though there is much to commend Dr Bright on in his life and ministry, his teaching on the Holy Spirit does not fall into that category.
In this, and most other of Dr Bright's books he takes a Keswickian view of sanctification and the work of God in our lives, bringing the heresy of the "Higher Life" view to a new generation. The view Dr Bright holds teaches that there are two types of Christians- the "spirit filled" and the "carnal." This view is rejected my most commentators on I Corinthians (where Dr Bright goes to find credence for his view). Most writers look at Paul's writings very differently, pointing out that all Christians live lives polluted by sin, but empowered by the Holy Spirit. If the Holy Spirit is not making His work known in our lives we have no right to assume we are Christians at all (carnal or otherwise). | | | Write your own review about The Christian and the Holy Spirit: Moving Beyond Discouragement and Defeat (Ten Basic Steps Toward Christian Maturity, Step 3)
