| This is a great cookbook, I have been looking for one that I thought would be worth buying. I love the receipes in it. I have tried some of them and they are really good. Thank You | | | | Just what I wanted Mar 8, 2007 |
| While the title says it is an Amish Heritage Cookbook I was pleased to find recipes that included store bought ingredients. This gives me the opportunity to try more of the recipies since I don't have a lot of time to spend in the kitchen. Also it included the recipie I was looking for. The recipies I have tried have been easy to follow and turned out wonderfully. My family loved them. As a mother of two it is nice to have a book of wholesome easy to reproduce oldfashioned flavor recipies on hand. If you like the flavor of old world but like new world ease i would recomend this cookbook to you. | | | | Good Food Jan 19, 2007 |

Great cookbook with information into the lives of the Amish culture and meals they prepare. Good source of overall recipes with insight into the Amish life and their fruitful ability to use the foods they produce. | | | | Nice Little Cookbook Jan 3, 2007 |
| I got this book after looking at a copy my Mother has. Since getting this book, I have used a few recipes. True, not all the recipes are from "scratch". And yes, there are a few modern ingredients that cut down on the prep or cooking time. I find this to be a good thing! There is an excerpt in the book that states "certain recipes have been modified or updated from the Old Order way of doing things for the benefit of non-Amish cooks who may have less time to spend in the kitchen." Also, now a days, Amish do use canned goods and do shop at stores for some ingredients. They also don't cook EVERYTHING from scratch. And yes, I do have two Amish families in my neighborhood. In the end, there are some tasty recipes in this book that are more traditional or old fashioned and enjoyable to prepare that most cookbooks today don't have. Also, if you have read Beverly Lewis' books, you will enjoy the little extras in this cookbook. If you are looking for a traditional Amish cookbook with things completely from scratch, keep looking. | | | Write your own review about Beverly Lewis Amish Heritage Cookbook
