 | Read it ONE day and I'm not an avid reader May 22, 2007 |
I've read Bevere's other works and have been thru some of his studies, but I must say, this story is the most riveting, compelling and eye-opening, yet. Like my title states, I read the book in one day, I just couldn't put it down. I think a movie is in order.... | | | | Life Changing May 10, 2007 |
| I recently had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Bevere teach at the Rock Church in San Bernardino CA. He was amazing. When he mentioned this boo, I ran to this site to get it at a reasonable price. I was not disappointed. This book will change your life. It will change the way you see yourself and the choices in your life. This is a must read for everyone. I purchased the audio book, thought he guys voice drones on, you still become apart of the story. It was amazing, I cried, I lauged, I looked into myself and realized I had a lot of changes to do. | | | | Fiction, sure, but with so much reality Apr 15, 2007 |
| This was an amazing read! Not only did the story line keep me interested, it was easy to follow. I'm not a "big" reader due to lack of time as a stay-at-home mom with two young kids, however, this book was finished in 3 days!! The reality it brings one to think about is one that you cannot afford to pass up. You simply must go "there." When we think we've got it all figured out and we're homefree, it's interesting to get a glimpse of what we most likely will face. Read on!!! | | | | A must read for everyone! Apr 4, 2007 |
I am a pastor/teacher and very seldom suggest reading material to my students. If they have time to read...they should be reading their Bible first. John Bevere is one of few authors I would recommend reading and owning all of his writings. All of his material is life challenging and life changing. Having said that, when I heard he had written a novel, I was very disappointed. I thought he had compromised his strong messages to the church. Boy was I WRONG!!! This book is a very strong message to "believers" and "unbelievers". The book impacted my life in a profound way and I passed it along to my 16 yo daughter - who testifies that she will never be the same. The last 1/3 of the book was my favorite part and has made a difference in my prayer life. I would also suggest you to get his audio series called, "Affabel", which has a similiar story line but in audio form. Powerful message! | | | | Good story with an even better message Mar 27, 2007 |
John Bevere and Mark Andrew Olson collaborate on this terrifying and intriguing thriller. Pastor Alan Rockaway is the pastor of a mega-church in Denver and we find him at the height of his ministry as the novel begins. Alan and his new wife, Jenny, along with several other couples from church embark on a couples' cruise designed to strengthen marriage relationships. Alan invites his son, Jeff, along to video the entire event for a documentary. Tragedy strikes the group during an off-boat excursion, and Jeff is forced to watch as his father, step-mother, and several church members sink to the bottom of the ocean floor when a yacht strikes their submarine.
Chaos and fear ensue as the trapped victims desperately try to survive until help can come for them. Through this experience Alan and the members of his church must face some spiritual truths that will challenge everything they have ever believed.
This is a good story with an even better message. What does it really mean to be a Christian? Can God be a God of grace and yet still require his followers to live their lives a certain way according to a certain standard? Is it enough just to be a good person and go through the motions in our spiritual lives? Bevere and Olson tackle these questions and the answers are sure to be eye-opening and maybe even shocking to some. This book has great elements of suspense woven throughout, but the message contained within is potentially life-changing. At times the message of the novel seems so challenging and so intense that some may find it hard to read, however I highly recommend this novel for those who are in need of a serious spiritual wake-up call. And honestly who isn't? (From Christian Review of Books) | | | Write your own review about Rescued
