Fun, a quick escape  Jun 2, 2010
Need a quick afternoon escape? Sing is a song that will give you just the adventure. This is the second book in the series. In this book, Moira takes center stage. You will find real people who struggle with their faith, their attitudes and life itself.

Bergren's strength is two-fold - first, she is terrific at characterization. Next, she is gifted at weaving plot. The characters in this book face immorality, abortion, the end of the checkbook, shipwreck and abandonment - in the midst somehow they discover their roots - a praying mom.

Bergren has developed a real winning series. Impressive.

SING by Lisa T. Bergren  May 19, 2010
Don't you just love to read a "fun fiction" book and realize that you're actually learning? In the story of SING, the three St. Claire siblings are each in a different part of the world. Each has an adventure but circumstances cause all three to seek the shelter of the ranch in Colorado. As the old saying goes, "There's no place like home." And that is exactly where each sibling feels he needs to be. Feeling desperate but not without hope all three seeks a way to return to Colorado. The journey of Moira, as well as, Nic (Dominic) is a well plotted story. Adventure, cunning, and hope bring a fresh feel that as a christian we can SING in the midst of our trials! Truly an enjoyable read! Learning about Colorado and traveling to Paris and Brazil was an added bonus! This is a five star read for my book case! Anticipating the next novel, CLAIM, due out June 1!

Book Review: Sing, by Lisa T. Bergren

Sing, by Lisa Bergren is book 2 in the Homeward Trilogy. I have not read book 1, hopefully I will find a copy soon! I do not feel that you need to read book 1 first, I guess I would like to have known what Odessa's illness was, but other than that Sing is a book that can stand on its own.

This is a book about Moira, one of the 3 St. Claire siblings. I believe that each of the 3 books is based on a particular sibling. Nic St. Claire is taken aboard a ship against his will, Odessa and her husband live on a ranch and have become devastated by their losses, Moira finds herself out of work and stolen from. The lives of these three weave around a plot of possible family destruction when they are hunted by an old acquaintance bent on bringing them down. Mixed amongst trails and hardship a tale of love is woven, heartbreak, strength and the will to move on makes this an excellent book.

I simply cannot wait to read book 3, and find myself a copy of the first book as well! I love the cover image as well, the colors tend to grab you and the partial picture of Moira leaves you wanting more!

Sing by Lisa T. Bergren  May 2, 2010
Sing, the second novel in Lisa T. Bergren's The Homeward Trilogy, reads like an adventure story. Set in the late 1800s, the novel features the St. Clair siblings, Odessa, Nic, and Moira. The siblings are scattered around the world, each on their own personal adventure. The three experience their share of trouble - shipwreck, a fire, kidnapping, bandits searching for gold - all the while learning more about the sovereignty of God and the power of forgiveness.

I had not read the first novel in the trilogy, Breathe, but was easily able to pick up where the story left off four years prior. The novel really does read like an excellent adventure story, with bits of mystery and romance thrown in for good measure. The author pulls you into the characters' lives and leaves you hoping that things will turn out okay for the siblings, scattered about the world. I was also intrigued by the various locations this story takes place - a ranch in Colorado, ships at sea around South America, Paris, London, and small western frontier towns. The author has obviously done her homework to make each location realistic and believable to that time period.

I will definitely search out the first book in the trilogy and look forward to the final book, Claim, to be released in June of this year.

This book was given to me by B&B Media Group in exchange for my fair and honest evaluation of this book.

2nd in Homeward trilogy is compelling and moving historical fiction  May 1, 2010
Sing by Lisa T. Bergren is the second book in the Homeward trilogy about the St. Clair siblings. Eldest sister Odessa is settling into life on a horse ranch with her husband Bryce and their new son, Samuel. Moira, the youngest, had a successful career as a singer in Paris until her manager absconded with all of her money, forcing her to make a radical change in her plans. Nic, the only son, has wasted his inheritance traveling the world and making a living as a brawler until losing a match finds him shanghaied on a ship traveling around Cape Horn. All three siblings will face tragedy as they try to find their way home. I can always tell a Lisa Bergren novel. The characters will be fully fleshed, the dialogue realistic, and the plotlines tautly written, keeping the pages turning quickly. Moira is the focus of this novel, and she makes some foolish, yet common mistakes about her career and men before finding herself in a terrible position for a women in 1887. Bergren really gets into her head, so the reader can easily sympathize with Moira. Readers should definitely read Breathe, the first in the trilogy before diving into Sing. Nic's story doesn't mesh with his sisters' in this story, but Bergren has laid a strong foundation for his story, Claim, to be another fantastic novel.
