Item Description... Overview Murphy, a farm terrier, describes a day in his life as he gets fed in the kitchen, hunts mice, goes to the vet, returns to the house for dinner, investigates a noise outside, and retires to the barn for sleep.
Publishers Description "Murphy-Stop-That is my name. I am a terrier. I bark. I bark at anything and everything and all the time." As he goes through his day -- barking, eating, outsmarting the dumb animals on the farm, putting up with a visit to the vet -- Murphy never loses his doggy enthusiasm, even when he has to sleep out in the barn. In her charming new tale, acclaimed author and illustrator Alice Provensen shows that every dog -- even a bad dog -- has his day. |

 | And I don't even like dogs that much! May 18, 2008 |
Wow. I suddenly have much-needed insight into the world of small, yappy dogs. The truth is they all have ADHD and can't help themselves.
At least it provides way for one hilarious book where we are the priveledged viewers of a dog's thoughts, a dog who thinks his full name is "Murphy-Stop-That". How can you not love a book with that kind of personality?
Not only is Murphy a fantastically character (for a yappy dog) but Ms. Provensen unleashes Murphy's thoughts in a torrent of personality-filled verbs and adjectives and a completely rushed narrative that only adds to the appeal.
The pictures are great, too. This is a fun book to read aloud! | | | | Son loves this book Feb 5, 2007 |
| My son, age 4 1/2, loves this book. Needless to say, our family has much of this book memorized. It is the story of a terrier named Murphy and his barking, searching for mice, and a trip to the vet. | | | | Laughter and giggles from toddler to Kindergartener Feb 4, 2006 |
| I read this out loud with my three children, 2 1/2 to 6. They all laugh until they are gasping and even my husband, listening in from the next room, gets a chuckle. Picking it off the shelf and scanning it will bring a grin and reading it by yourself is good, but this is a book that screams to be read out loud. | | | | not great Sep 6, 2005 |
| I didn't like this book because there wasn't a real plot and no real sentences - perhaps for 3-4 year olds but older than that I would say no. | | | | Cute and entertaining! May 21, 2004 |
| This is a wonderfully "cute" story about the mischievous Murphy-STOP. At least that is what he claims his name is! Murphy is an adorable little terrier, full of joie de vive, who lives a very complete day and manages to get into trouble without even trying. The illustrations are colorful and cute and a beginning reader will really enjoy reading about the antics of Murphy-STOP! Great starter book! Murphy's expressions are priceless! | | | Write your own review about A Day in the Life of Murphy (Bccb Blue Ribbon Picture Book Awards (Awards))
