Choosing the Right Bible for New Christians
The Bible has been considered as one of the most enlightening books of all time. It contains plenty of truths that many followers of the Christian faith hold dear in their hearts. However, for beginners, it can become a daunting task to pick the right Bible. There are a lot of things to consider when picking the right Bible for you.
Even though it contains the same important message of love, hope and salvation; there are plenty of Bible versions that beginners can choose from.
Here are at our bible store, we offer you with a good variety of versions as well as simple guidelines on how you can find the right one that suits you.
Bible Versions
As you may have noticed, there are plenty of Bible translations offered out there. The original Bible was written over a span of 1500 years; by different authors in different places. It was essentially written in a mix of Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic.
As time progressed, it was translated into many different languages and plenty of versions then started to show up. Each Bible version is geared towards making its audience understand the Word of God. It’s important when choosing that you familiarize yourself about the type of version you are getting. Some of the popular versions include the KJV (King James Version), NIV (New International Version) and NASB (New American Standard Bible) among many others.
KJV or King James Version
Considered to be the oldest Bible translation or version out there, the KJV uses Old English in its translation of the Holy Book. The lyrical poetry of the words used in the KJV adds plenty of literary beauty to the words of the Lord. Many people still prefer to use this version because of its beauty and because they feel it is the most accurate interpretation of the Bible.
NIV or New International Version
The NIV was first completed in 1978 and more than 100 evangelical scholars worked on it. Ever since its release, the NKJV has become the most popular and best-selling English translation of the Bible today. It uses simple, contemporary English along with traditional biblical language. If you are looking for a Bible version that’s translated in simple English, then this one is for you. A recent update on the NIV was done early 2011 and it has changed about 5% of the text from previous NIV versions.
NASB or New American Standard Bible
The first version of the NASB was completed back in 1971 and it was compiled by a group of conservative Protestant scholars . This particular Bible version features a very literal word order and vocabulary. Many Christians like using this version because of its devotion to the grammar structure of the original.
NLT or New Living Translation
Initially published in 1996, the NLT is perhaps the most recent Bible version/translation that has come out . It was compiled by over 90 Bible scholars that come from different theological backgrounds as well as denominations. A lot of people also like this translation simply because it was translated in modern times; making them more readable while still staying quite true to the original text.
There are still so many more Bible versions that you can find out there. If you are looking for more options, feel free to browse through out Bible Category and check out the many Bible versions that we offer. You’ll certainly find something that is most suitable for you.
